Joe Satriani is one of those legendary American instrumental rock guitarists who has inspired many other famous guitarists in the early years of his career. He has collaborated with guitarists such as Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Rick Hunolt, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Charlie Hunter, Kevin Cadogan and Alex Skolnick. His biggest inspiration was Jimi Hendrix. Satriani himself was enlisted by Mick Jagger as a lead guitarist for Jagger’s first solo tour. Currently, he is the lead guitarist for Chickenfoot, a United States originated supergroup. He is now considered to be a highly technical guitarist and has been referred to as a top guitar virtuoso.
